New England Revolution Season Predictions
As the season approaches, it's time to make some predictions about this exciting upcoming season.
The Revolution season is just days away (thank god). With the season being so close comes some thinking about how this season will go for the club.
Here I will be making some of my own predictions about this season, including the top goalscorer, team mvp, and many more.
Some of these are definitely debatable, so let me know some of your thoughts on these predictions! Let’s get into this.
Top Goalscorer - Leonardo Campana

This pick for top goalscorer felt like a layup. Campana is a proven goalscorer in the MLS with 28 goals. Even with having a star-studded lineup with Miami including Suarez and Messi in that attack, he still produced 8 goals.
It is no question that Campana is going to be the starter for the club, he is the direct replacement for Giacomo Vrioni. Campana is a threat on the pitch, he is strong, has great vertical to win headers, and is quick and powerful on the ball.
Along with that, he has scored 2 goals for the Revs in their pre-season matches.
Campana is miles better than Vrioni, and he’s proved that. I would not be surprised if Leo can rack up 10-15 goals for the Revs in this MLS season with this new fit. He’s going to play amazing and I am so excited to see him play for the club.
Team MVP - Luca Langoni
Yes, some of you may say that Carles Gil would be the obvious choice here, and yes I would actually agree with you. But I am just so high on Langoni this season that I am taking a shot in the dark and saying he will be the clubs most valuable player this season.
Langoni was a baller for the few games he played for the club last season, scoring 3 goals and getting 2 assists in 11 appearances. But the stats do not do Luca justice, he is an absolute baller. He is tekky and super fast. He is someone this season who is going to create so many chances from the wing.
Now saying Langoni will be the team MVP does not downplay Carles Gil as a player. Carles Gil is fantastic and always has been, but this season I just think that Langoni will have an impact on the team from a tougher spot on the wing than Carles. I still expect Carles to get 10+ assists from the CAM spot especially with options like Langoni and Campana and Ganago in those positions to score.
I just think a full season of Langoni will make a massive impact for the team and be a guy who will solidify himself as a superstar in the MLS.
Defender of The Year - Mamadou Fofana
This is an up in the air pick as there are many options for the award with the reinforcements the Revs have gotten in the defense, but this pick just feels like the right one.
Fofana is 27, still young with lots of experience playing in Europe. He has made 200 appearances for clubs in the top French leagues, along with having lots of National Team experience with Mali. He is very comfortable on the ball and physical along with his center back pairing Brayan Ceballos. They will both be key pieces to this Revs new reformed defense.
Though Ceballos has the potential at just 23 years, Fofana has the experience and I believe that he will be the Revs best defender this season.
Bold Prediction - Brandon Bye will not be a Revs player at the end of the season
Sorry Revs fans, not every part of this list is sunshine and rainbows unfortunately. But I do not believe that Brandon Bye will be a part of the Revs organization at the end of the season.
Yes, this is a bold prediction but also an important part to bring up. Brandon Bye is a great player, he has started at that RB position for the last few years for the club. It is tough to replace a guy who has played for so long. But this past off-season, the Revs signed Ilay Feingold for $2 million dollars as a U-22 player. Ilay was not signed to be a backup, he was signed as a player to fight for his spot in this Revs lineup.
With that being said, I think Feingold will breakthrough at some point in this Revs lineup this season which will lead to a very unfortunate scene happening, Brandon Bye getting traded in summer transfer window just like DeJuan Jones and Henry Kessler did this past season. It would be an unfortunate occurrence but it is just a harsh reality.
Not only that but Brandon Bye has been looked at by European clubs, will this be a situation where he is signed to a contract with a European club? That may be the case. Overall though, I think this prediction is very bold but I could definitely see it coming true.
Porter Sacked?
The answer to this question will be answered in the first 4 months of this MLS Season.
I think that if the Revs begin the season off rough, being in 10th or lower in the MLS then he will be sacked. The Revs do not have a super tough schedule to begin the season. It is definitely something that the Revs can handle this season.
But if it is a rough start, I don’t think that Porter will be here for long. The club has taken some initiative, especially in this transfer window which could maybe mean Porter is gone at some point this season.
Of course we do not want to see this as it means the Revs would’ve had a really bad start to the season (praying that does not happen)
But I feel that this scenario is the only one where Porter gets the sacking. If we start well I feel he stays no matter the results of the season, unless we have an Arena situation which would make me go absolutely insane.
Playoffs?
Will the Revs make the playoffs this season? It’s the question that the fans ask themselves every season. This season, I do believe that the Revs will make the MLS Playoffs.
I think this rebuild will really help the team, I am hopeful of that. We have a proper goalscorer who knows the league, a super strong pair of wingers, players with European experience, and a strong new pair of CBs and new DMS, spots where the Revs heavily were affected last year in their lineup.
I just think the front office made decisions that will heavily help the team, which will lead them to the MLS playoffs this season.
Stadium conformation?
No.
Hopefully some of these predictions come true (except the Brandon Bye and Porter ones)
I just want the Revs to have a successful season after the absolute travesty that last year was for the club. After such a promising off-season, it would just feel like a letdown to not at least make the playoffs. Let me know your thoughts on these below!
I’ll be content with anything better than last year, it's a young team with potential so we'll see how it goes!
Yo lots of this this is good predictions especially the langoni. But Brandon bye is such an underrated player and he fits perfectly in Caleb’s system. He is great under pressure and in the air.
